"Two years ago, I started bootcamp at CrossFit Webster. Overweight and out of shape, I didn't fully realize how out of shape and overweight I had allowed myself to get, but I knew that I needed to make some changes in my life or face the same health consequences that I see in my patients everyday.
I had heard of CrossFit, but had no idea what to expect. I was encouraged to check it out and con honestly say that it has changed my life. When I started bootcamp, I could not sustain one minute of anything. I couldn't even sustain a 200 meter run around the building and I had absolutely no mobility.
After a couple of months of bootcamp, I made the move to CrossFit classes. I was 53 years old when I started. Before I started CrossFit, I would have never guessed that at the age of 53 I would run my first Tough Mudder race and days before my 54th birthday, I would run and complete a sprint triathlon. Without CrossFit, neither of these things would have ever been even a consideration for me.
Since starting, I have lost 30 pounds and dropped 4 inches from my waist. I had gotten to the point that I was wearing pants with an expandable waistband and a belt that was on its last notch before CrossFit, so four inches is probably a modest estimate. I have completely transformed my body shape and now have added five pounds of muscle mass back.
I continue to get in better shape and gain mobility everyday. I have had and continue to have struggles with movements and mobility, but I refuse to give up and thankfully, not one single trainer has given up on me either. There is always encouragement and correction and great solutions to help me get better every day. I continue to work on every detail -- curse you double-unders, pistols, handstands and muscle ups! One day, I will have them!
Many people think that CrossFit is for the young, athletic type only. I will argue that is is for anyone and maybe more important for those that reach middle age. CrossFit keeps you young, strong and mobile. It helps you be more agile, strong and balanced. CrossFit will keep you fit for life.

Thank you to all of the members of CrossFit Webster who form such a great community and make every WOD painfully enjoyable. I am not a great athlete and will probably never win a competition, but that is not my goal. My goal is to be the best that I can be and try to get better every day."
